The Scullery

The Scullery

This is the Scullery. It would be the basement entrance to the house for servants and trades people. The Master and Lady of the house would never use this entrance. This is where the house servants lived, ate, did the laundry and stored all the produce to feed the household. The walls are plain plaster and the floors are hand-made flagstones. There would be no lighting in this room apart from a single candle which the maid would carry around with her.
